June 13th - The Tenderloin Celebrates Greening and Safety Improvements!

A Community Celebration and Tree Planting is Planned for Saturday, June 13  

UC Hastings College of the LawSan Francisco County Transit AuthorityFriends of the Urban ForestTenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation and the Tenderloin Community Benefit District will celebrate the completion of a tremendous project intended to increase pedestrian safety and greening for the neighborhood. 


$2.5M was invested to complete numerous streetscape improvements including sidewalk widening, curb extensions, landscaping, improved lighting and the addition of new trees for the Tenderloin neighborhood. This work will support San Francisco's Vision Zero plan to significantly reduce pedestrian fatalities and accidents. 

Below is a schedule of the day's celebration:
  • 10:30 AM - Remarks from District 6 Supervisor, Jane Kim and other project leadership
  • 11:00 AM - Friends of the Urban Forest coordinates gardening and tree planting groups
  • 11:00-12:00 AM - UC Hastings sidewalk garden planting
  • 11:00 AM -2:00 PM - Tree planting at UC Hastings and neighborhood wide
  • 2:00 PM - Potluck, refreshments and celebration
The kickoff and end of event celebration will take place at UC Hastings, 198 McAllister Street at 'The Beach'.

The community at large is encouraged to join the event to celebrate the addition of safety improvements, greening and trees! (note: Friends of the Urban Forest is coordinating volunteers for planting)
